Empowering Content Contributors Eprise allows developers to empower content contributors through various options. The flexibililty and ease of editing content from within the presentation page, a wizard type forms interface, or simply providing an entry box allowing WYSIWYG rich text entry are all available options. At a basic level, these powerful options are made possible though "content elements". Each Eprise web page is based on content elements called Eprise "page blocks". Eprise page blocks are instances of Eprise content elements. Eprise content elements include many powerful features and optional attributes. An Eprise developer creates and reuses content elements to build an Eprise page. Three features that examplify the ease of content creation and updates are: ReadyEditEprise' ReadyEditTM feature allows business users to edit text directly in the rendered page. In addition to in-page editing, ReadyEdit allows users to publish content, submit content (based on the pre-defined work flow), save work in process changes, view the content before changes were started and view the differences introduced in the work in process modifications. All options presented to the users are based on the permissions of the user. ReadyEdit is implemented as easily as adding a single attribute ("incontextedit") in the definition of one of your Eprise elements (page block building blocks) and a parameter on the URL. ReadyEdit is a straightforward and simple example of how easily a developer can allow and encourage accurate and up to date information on a page. Quick FormsQuick Forms are another example of how Eprise empowers business users to manage content directly through the web site. Quick Forms gives developers a robust method of allowing business user to create new pages in addition to editing existing content. Quick Forms provide an editable view of an Eprise page that allows users to create new pages from the same format ("page style"). A Quick Form also allows users to edit the various pieces of content ("page blocks") on a page. The features of a business user viewing a page in this mode include validation criteria such as enforcing required fields and hiding inapplicable fields. Content additions and modifications take advantages of all of the Eprise development environment such as using visual editors, setting navigation options, and setting publication criteria. The advantages of implementing Quick Forms is readily evident. Quick Forms provide a structured process for users to create new pages and update existing pages. Working examples of Quick Forms are included in the Eprise\Samples applications. Quick Forms provide a straightforward, structured, and easy to understand way for developers to encourage new and compliant information being added a web site. Visual EditorThe Eprise Visual Editor is available to remove the burden of knowing HTML from your users. Instead of presenting users with a standard text box for content entry, the Visual Editor provides a standard format toolbar. The Visual Editor includes a WYSIWYG view of the content. Using the Visual Editor to enter and update content encourages a more professional presentation of information on a site. The Visual Editor is implemented through the most common Eprise element type called the "freeform" element. Among the various attributes of a freeform element is the option to use a "visual editor" to enter text. Visual editors are implemented in Eprise by adding a single attribute (visual="on") in the definition of one of your Eprise page block building block elements. While your content contributors are entering or updating content, they can use a familiar and standard formatting toolbar. Visual editors are easy to implement and as easy to use as typing up your content in MS Word.
